As part of a global geo-economics project by BGA, our Managing Partner Martin Wiesmann analyses how major and middle powers are defending their autonomy following the collapse of the rules-based order between the hegemonies of China and the U.S.

In collaboration with the FAZ, a new series is being produced: “Middle Powers Without a World Order.” Following visits to South Africa and Saudi Arabia, Martin Wiesmann has traveled to Brazil, Indonesia, and Canada, and will next visit India, Japan, and Australia.

He meets with leading decision-makers in government headquarters, ministries, and central banks, as well as representatives of the business community and think tanks. Analyses of resources, interdependencies, and strategies reveal not only the structures of a new world order but also the potential that agile, globally active companies can tap into.

The first article focuses on Saudi Arabia in the context of “Vision 2030.”
