BGA Partner Prof. Eberhard Sandschneider was interviewed by Deutschlandfunk’s Dirk Müller to provide his analysis of Donald Trump’s recent tour of Asia and how US allies in the region reacted to the president’s unpredictable remarks during the trip. In the interview, Sandschneider described Trump as “an excellent president for the interests of China” as the White House’s “America First” policy, particularly on trade and bilateral relations, provides an opening for China’s regional and global ambitions.
Professor Eberhard Sandschneider is a Partner at BGA. From 2003 to 2016, he was the Director of the German Council on Foreign Relations, one of the leading European think tanks. He has held a chair in Chinese politics and international relations at the Freie Universität Berlin since 1998. Between 1995 and 1998, he was professor of international relations at the Johannes-Gutenberg Universität in Mainz. An author of numerous books he is a much sought after speaker on global risks and frequently appears in the media.
